Proxy Self-Revocation

When a voter has a proxy on file and would like to submit a live vote in the Meeting Portal, our system will force the voter to first cancel their proxy before the live vote period. They do this by confirming that they want to vote live.

Proxy Self-Revocations

  • This feature will prompt voters to self-revoke their proxy inside of the meeting/voting portal before the live vote period begins if they would like to participate in the live vote.
  • This helps to ensure that there are no changes in advanced voting data midway through a meeting:
    • Owners who do not revoke their proxy before voting begins will not be able to participate in any live voting, tie breakers included.
    • It ensures that advanced numbers do not change mid-meeting when someone decides to refrain from voting in the first period, then vote in subsequent matters.
  • This can be accomplished, in part, by ensuring that all proxy revocations happen before the live voting period of the Meeting begins.

How to Close Proxy Revocations

1. Before you begin the voting period, you will need to first close the self-revocation period. This can be done under the Questions tab, by clicking on the toggle for "Proxy Revocations: Open".

2. Once you click the toggle, a dialogue box will pop up asking you to confirm if you want to close proxy revocations, allowing you to open the voting period. Confirm by clicking "Close Revocations".

3. You will see that proxy self-revocations will be closed, and you will be able to click on the "Start" button(s) for each voting matter. Owners with a remaining proxy on record will not be able to submit a live vote.

4. Conduct the live vote as usual!

How do Owners Self-Revoke Their Proxy?

Note: owners only need to self-revoke their proxy if they would like to submit a live vote.

1. In the meeting/voting portal, if an owner has submitted a proxy, the portal will notify them that they have a proxy on record. They can click on the "vote tab" link or the vote tab on the top right corner of their screen.

2. On the next page, they have the option to review the proxy they had submitted. To revoke their proxy, they will need to click on the blue button that says "I want to vote live".

3. A dialogue box will pop-up asking them to confirm.

4. Once confirmed, the proxy will have been revoked and the voting portal will clear. Their portal will tell them there is nothing to vote on at the moment until a voting matter goes live. Their portal will then automatically refresh and they can vote.
